The 2024 Student Advocacy, Leadership, Unity, and Diversity Summit (SALUD2024)

Con Valor Por Un Futuro Mejor:
With Courage For a Better Future

April 26-29, 2024
Washington, DC

Hosted by:

The 2nd annual SALUD (Student Advocacy, Leadership, Unity, and Diversity) Summit is the next chapter of the long legacy of Latinx health advocacy. The summit represents the latest product of a grassroots, student-driven movement that began in the 1960’s, aimed at improving healthcare policy for underserved communities in the United States.

Attending the SALUD Summit will provide students with hands-on training that facilitates their contributions to effective change at political, academic, institutional, and personal levels. The weekend will offer empowering keynotes, advocacy skill-building workshops, updates on the most crucial policies that impact health, and the opportunity to network at our research symposium, exhibitor fair, and Capitol Hill visit.

Through this year’s summit theme, Con Valor Por un Futuro Mejor, we aim to empower diverse voices in advocacy and academia and unite the next generation of healthcare leaders. SALUD serves as a reminder that despite our current political landscape, the LMSA community is powerful, our united voice can influence progress, and most importantly that our future patients and communities need us.

SALUD Summit topics include:

  • Finding your voice as a health advocate
  • Voting as a social determinant of health and mobilizing the Latinx vote for the 2024 election
  • Protecting reproductive health care access
  • Increasing attention to gun violence prevention
  • Improving health outreach to migrant populations
  • Using research as an advocacy tool to influence public policy
  • Finding and building mentorship

COVID-19 Provisions

COVID-19 Provisions

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues in the U.S., LMSA is actively monitoring federal, state, local, and institutional public health guidelines to ensure a safe and successful National Conference.

Note as of Jan 29, 2024

At this time, all SALUD2024 activities will take place in person.

Given the continued risk of COVID-19, especially within the communities and hospitals we serve, LMSA urges all of its conference participants to be fully vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2 as per CDC Guidelines. However, in light of the scheduled end of the U.S. Federal COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, LMSA will not be requiring attendees to provide proof of vaccination against SARS-CoV-2.

Masking throughout SALUD2024 is strongly recommended and encouraged, particularly in areas in which social distancing may not be possible. LMSA also requests that all registrants voluntarily undergo a COVID-19 PCR or rapid antigen test prior to arrival in Atlanta, GA.

Moreover, LMSA asks that participants who test positive for COVID-19 after arriving in Atlanta, who do not feel well, or who are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms at any point during SALUD2024 refrain from participating in any conference-related activities. If this applies to you, please inform LMSA staff immediately at

This policy aims to promote responsible behavior and reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19. However, by registering for and participating in SALUD2024, attendees acknowledge that they are taking on the risk of contracting the virus.
