Overview

Overview

The Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded to represent, support, educate, and unify medical trainees, especially those who identify as Hispanic or Latina/o/x. LMSA is run primarily by medical students and physician faculty members, working together towards a common goal of promoting a diverse, inclusive healthcare workforce to support the fastest growing ethnic population in the United States.

The national conference is our flagship event held during Hispanic Heritage Month, a gathering of over 1,000 Hispanic and/or Latina/o/x medical and pre-medical students, resident and faculty physicians, organizational leaders, allies, and more. The 2024 LMSA National Conference will be held at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine in Los Angeles, an epicenter of la cultura and promise for a bright future amongst our community.

Our theme this year, “Caminos Únicos, Corazones Unidos: Building our Legacy in Medicine,” is designed to expose students from diverse backgrounds to unique career paths that will allow them to create their own legacy in medicine. Whether it be academia, pharmaceutical and biotechnology, management, law, public health, policy, health information technology, administration, and more—there is a myriad of paths rising physicians can explore. Our backgrounds allow us to draw upon a unique skill set that, with the right guidance, can help us expand beyond traditional paths and leave a lasting impact on the world.

Our goals are as follows:
Inspire Innovation: Empower participants to pursue unique paths, whether it be through innovative approaches to healthcare, leadership, academic excellence, or cutting-edge STEM fields.
Provide Mentorship: Facilitate connections with experienced professionals who have forged their own paths in medicine, offering guidance and support to aspiring physicians.
Cultivate Leadership: Showcase how physicians can leverage their expertise for advocacy and leadership in medicine and beyond.

NC2024 Exhibitor Fair

Overview of the NC2024 Exhibitor Fair

Fair Overview

Each year, LMSA hosts at least one Exhibitor Fair during its National Conference to connect its members to opportunities for career advancement and professional development.

The Exhibitor Fair is central to LMSA’s mission to empower medical trainees, especially those from backgrounds underrepresented in medicine, to become the physicians our communities need. Additionally, the Exhibitor Fair provides an ideal forum for medical schools, residency programs, and other educational organizations to engage trainees who share a passion for health equity.

For these reasons, we believe participation in the fair is particularly valuable for institutions who seek to
recruit and foster a more diverse and talented generation of physicians.
