GPA Calculator

The AMCAS, AACOMAS, and TMDSAS each calculate GPAs differently, which can change how a student’s transcript is interpreted. AMCAS includes every grade and averages repeats, AACOMAS reports multiple GPAs but no longer replaces grades, and TMDSAS ignores plus/minus marks and calculates eight distinct GPAs. Because the rules vary, applicants may see different GPAs depending on the system, making the provided calculator a useful tool to understand how their academic record will be viewed across all three application services. Use this calculator to understand how your GPA will look in each system, since AMCAS, AACOMAS, and TMDSAS all apply different rules to the same transcript

Summer Undergraduate Research Programs

Summer undergraduate research programs play a vital role in preparing students for medical school. They not only strengthen applications but also cultivate essential skills and highlight a genuine commitment to scientific inquiry. Far more than résumé builders, these programs provide hands-on experience in real-world research, help students clarify their career goals, and showcase the qualities medical schools value most: curiosity, resilience, and dedication to advancing healthcare. Below are links to a listing of summer opportunities designed for undergraduates pursuing careers in medical research!

Pre-Med Enrichment Programs:

Pre-Med Enrichment Programs play a vital role in preparing students for medical school. They not only strengthen academic readiness but also provide mentorship and highlight resilience and commitment to the medical profession. Far more than academic boosters, these programs offer holistic experiences that prepare students intellectually, professionally, and personally for the challenges ahead. By combining skill-building, mentorship, clinical and research exposure, and equity-focused support, they empower applicants to become stronger, more confident, and better equipped to succeed on their path to medicine. Medical Pathways & Enrichment Opportunities

MCAT Study Resources:

MCAT prep resources are expensive because they require expert development, continual updates, and personalized services, all in a market where students feel pressure to invest heavily. While they can be valuable, students should carefully choose resources that match their learning style and avoid overspending.

Below is a growing list of free MCAT resources. Remember, they  are not just study aids, they are essential tools that provide structure, practice, and confidence. They help students master the exam’s breadth, showcase resilience and discipline, and ultimately strengthen their medical school applications.

Clinical Hours Resources

Clinical hours matter for pre‑meds far more than most students realize. They’re one of the clearest signals to admissions committees that you understand what medicine actually looks like and that you’re choosing this path for the right reasons. Several sources emphasize this point, noting that clinical experience helps committees judge whether an applicant truly grasps the realities of patient care and that it’s a major factor distinguishing strong applications from weaker ones.

Why are they important? They….

  • Prove you understand patient care
  • Demonstrate commitment to medicine
  • Help you confirm your own motivation
  • Strengthen your application narrative
  • Give you stories for interviews and essays
  • Align you with what accepted students typically have

Below are a list of resources that provide clinical hours:

DACA Friendly Medical Schools:

DACA status confers a lawful US presence, social security number, work authorization, and the allowance for participation in medical residency training. Some, but not all, health professions schools welcome applications from undocumented immigrants/DACA status applicants. This is a link provided by the AAMC that lists medical schools that accept and do not accept DACA applicants.

Financial Literacy and Student Loan Information:

Juno: Juno’s founders, Nikhil Agarwal and Chris Abkarians were admitted to Harvard and then the dreaded tuition bill came. That summer, instead of taking expensive loans, they got 700 students from 10 schools together and negotiated lower rates for the entire group, helping their classmates save. Juno came into existence from the desire to make this benefit available to all future generations of students. Today, Juno negotiates better student loans for a community of undergraduate families, grad students and more.

FSA: The office of Federal Student Aid (FSA) provides approximately $120.8 billion in grant, work-study, and loan funds each year to help students and their families pay for college or career school.

Private vs Federal Loans: Understanding federal vs. private student loans matters because each type comes with very different rules, protections, and long‑term costs. Federal loans usually offer fixed interest rates, income‑based repayment options, and safety nets like deferment or forgiveness, while private loans often have higher or variable rates and far fewer protections. Since both are binding financial commitments, knowing the differences helps you borrow wisely and avoid unnecessary long‑term debt.

Financial Aid Big Beautiful Bill Update 2025: The Big Beautiful Bill limits how much students can borrow in federal loans and reduces the number of repayment plans to just two, removing many of the flexible income‑driven options borrowers currently rely on. As a result, future students may face tighter borrowing caps, fewer protections, and potentially higher monthly payments.
