New Opportunity – Resident Scholars Program

As part of the Reproductive Health Education in Family Medicine’s (RHEDI) efforts to diversify the family medicine workforce in SRH/abortion care, they are launching a new Resident Scholars Program for Workforce Diversity (RSPWD), aimed at engaging and supporting underrepresented minorities in medicine. They will select 6 to 8 applicants for the RSPWD, which will run their entire PGY2 year.

The RSPWD will consist of:

·    A cohort of scholars who will meet (virtually) 5-6 times a year

·    Webinars/workshops led by RHEDI staff, mentors, and guest speakers

·    Leadership training and mentorship from family medicine-trained mentors who identify as BIPOC

·    Full scholarships (registration, travel, food) to 1 medical conference and 1 reproductive justice conference

·    Scholar-led outreach to medical students at their institutions

·    Academic project support (if desired)

Residents at U.S. family medicine residency programs who will be 2nd year residents in 2021-2022 are invited to apply. Priority will be given to residents with a demonstrated interest in SRH/abortion care within family medicine who identify as under-represented minorities.

Application deadlines:

The application deadline is June 18th, 2021. Finalists will be contacted for an interview, and selections will be made by July 16th, 2021.
