Children’s National Health System Minority Senior Scholarship Program (MSSP)

From Dr. Enrique Escalante at Children’s National Health System in Washington, DC:

Greetings!

I am excited to announce that the Minority Senior Scholarship Program (MSSP) is accepting applications for our 2021 cohort! The MSSP is a funded opportunity for fourth year medical students applying to pediatrics to rotate at Children’s National in Washington DC and gain exposure to academic pediatrics at a large, free standing children’s hospital. Our scholars receive supplemental mentorship, networking opportunities with current residents, as well as a stipend to offset the costs of travel and housing.

Interested rising fourth year students can visit our website for more information. The application can be found here, and has a deadline of April 30, 2021. Feel free to forward widely.

We look forward to receiving applications from LMSA members!

Quotes from Scholars

“[MSSP] allowed me to explore an area of medicine that I had not been exposed to during medical school…[at] one of the most highly ranked centers in the nation. MSSP also connected me to residents and faculty in all stages of training and has helped me establish lasting relationships that I will work hard to maintain in the years to come.”

Outstanding mentorship and allowed me to meet and discuss my plans and aspirations with important figures at Children’s National”.

“My mentor was so supportive and helped to prepare me for interviews. I felt really supported in the residency application and interview process.”
